The Project
La Azulina is an argentinian restaurant located in the heart of Mendoza, Argentina. They prepare delicious homemade, regional and Mendocinian cuisine.
The furniture was designed and chosen depending on the spaces with blue upholstery.
Sticky Facts
We called it «La Azulina» in honor of the first Argentine flag and that gave the color to its facade. The idea was to evoke the culture, using regional and autochthonous elements such as hand-carved animal masks in wood, maps and old photos of Mendoza.
We liked the idea of each ornament having a story to tell so we visited a collector where we found old newspapers, cookie tins, jars of different products, stamps and graphics from old advertisements from which we made the pictures. The centerpieces and lamps were created by a local ceramist.
The furniture was designed and chosen depending on the spaces with blue upholstery, leather appliqués with bronze-colored fittings, representing the horses’ saddles, armchairs with studs and capitone, very typical of the culture.
Every detail had to have a reason, so that people could really immerse themselves in the concept, this is why we based our design on the Mendocino flora and designed a floating structure of dried flowers, in the middle of the room with the colors of the place. If you go to La Azulina, don’t forget to look at the pictures on the walls, we have hidden some messages!
